Destination Guide

Australia offers employment in defence support, transport, logistics, construction, mining, infrastructure, healthcare, technology and hospitality. Work culture is generally practical, safety-conscious and relatively informal, with emphasis on punctuality, teamwork and clear communication. Lifestyle varies from busy capital cities to quieter regional and remote communities; outdoor activities, beaches and national parks are major attractions, although housing can be expensive in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. International applicants need the correct visa, such as an employer-sponsored pathway, skilled visa or working holiday visa where eligible. Defence-related jobs may require Australian work rights, background checks, medical testing and security clearance, which can limit eligibility for some overseas applicants. Before relocating, research the job location, transport, accommodation, tax, healthcare and licensing requirements. A heavy-vehicle and dangerous-goods licence may need Australian recognition or conversion.
