Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company, commonly known as Metrobank, is one of the Philippines’ largest universal banks. Established in 1962, it provides services to individuals, businesses, institutions, and government-related clients through retail banking, corporate banking, investment banking, treasury, wealth management, and digital channels. Its network includes branches and ATMs across the Philippines, supported by online and mobile banking platforms. Metrobank is part of the GT Capital Holdings group and is recognized as a major participant in the country’s financial sector. The bank invests in technology, cybersecurity, data, and process modernization to improve customer experience and operational efficiency. Employees generally work in a structured, regulated environment where collaboration, integrity, risk awareness, service quality, and continuous improvement are important. Its main corporate operations are centered in Metro Manila, including Taguig, with opportunities across banking, technology, operations, sales, finance, and support functions.

Destination Guide

The Philippines offers strong opportunities in banking, information technology, business-process services, finance, telecommunications, tourism, and shared-service operations. Metro Manila, particularly Makati, Taguig, and Quezon City, has the widest range of professional roles, while Cebu and Davao are growing employment centers. Filipino culture is generally friendly, family-oriented, community-minded, and English-speaking, making workplace integration relatively easy. Urban living provides restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and efficient business networks, although traffic, humidity, and flooding can affect daily routines. Costs vary considerably; Metro Manila accommodation is substantially more expensive than in provincial cities. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa; requirements and processing should be confirmed with Philippine immigration authorities. New arrivals should arrange authenticated documents, health insurance, housing near work, and local tax registration. The country’s many islands offer beaches, diving, mountains, and relaxed weekend travel.
