The company employs people from many countries and collaborates across international offices and business units. Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in technology, data science, software engineering, finance, digital marketing, tourism, education, and advanced manufacturing. Tokyo provides the largest international job market, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo offer lower-cost alternatives and growing technology communities. Work culture values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, and respectful communication; some companies remain hierarchical, though international firms are generally more flexible. Daily life is safe, convenient, and supported by excellent public transportation, healthcare, restaurants, and cultural activities. Housing in central Tokyo is expensive, and learning basic Japanese is valuable for administration and social integration. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work visa, such as the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services status, and must meet education or experience requirements. Relocating involves securing housing, registering an address, arranging health insurance, and obtaining a residence card. Rakuten may provide relocation or visa assistance, but applicants should confirm current benefits directly with the company.
