Destination Guide

The United Kingdom is an island nation made up mainly of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, with diverse cities, countryside and coastal communities. Job opportunities are strongest in logistics, healthcare, technology, construction, hospitality, finance and public services, although competition and regional pay differences can be significant. British culture values punctuality, privacy, queues and polite communication, while lifestyles range from busy urban living to quieter rural areas. Public transport is extensive in cities, but a car can be useful for delivery and rural work. Housing and living costs are highest in London and parts of southern England. Most overseas workers need permission to work before starting employment. A Skilled Worker visa requires an eligible occupation, an approved sponsor and salary requirements; postal delivery roles may not qualify for sponsorship. Other routes include family visas, Youth Mobility and study-related permissions. Check GOV.UK for current immigration rules.
