Sri Lanka offers employment opportunities in apparel manufacturing, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, healthcare, education, and business services. The island has a diverse culture shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and other communities, with Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity widely practised. Life can range from busy urban centres such as Colombo to quieter coastal and hill-country towns. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although housing and imported goods can be expensive in major cities. Foreign nationals normally require an appropriate employment visa or residence approval arranged with employer support; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocating employees should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, healthcare, taxation, and document requirements before arrival. Sri Lanka offers tropical beaches, scenic mountains, wildlife, historic cities, and generally warm hospitality.
