Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and manufacturing, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, healthcare, education and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the widest range of professional roles, while Kandy, Galle and other regional centres offer growing opportunities. The culture combines South Asian traditions with strong community values, religious diversity and a welcoming social atmosphere. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many international business centres, although Colombo housing can be relatively expensive. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife parks and historic cities, with warm weather throughout the year and regional monsoon differences. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence approval before working; this is usually arranged with employer sponsorship and government clearance. Candidates should confirm visa rules, salary taxation, accommodation and relocation support directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
