Destination Guide

Maldives resort islands offer opportunities in fitness and wellness, food and beverage, housekeeping, diving, watersports, engineering, finance, guest services, and management. Jobs are commonly provided with employer-sponsored work authorization, staff accommodation, meals, medical support, and transport; the employer normally arranges the work visa and related permits after hiring. Employees should confirm contract terms, service charge, leave, airfare, and insurance before relocating. Life on a resort island is peaceful and scenic, with beaches, snorkeling, diving, fishing, and water sports, but it can also feel isolated from local towns and family. Maldivian culture is welcoming and strongly influenced by Islam, so respectful dress and behavior are important, particularly when visiting inhabited islands. Alcohol is generally restricted to licensed tourist resorts. Malé is the main commercial center, while resort islands have limited shopping and healthcare facilities. Reliable internet is usually available, though costs and connectivity can vary.
