Destination Guide

Maldives resort islands offer opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, marine activities, spa, engineering, finance, childcare and management. Resort life is international and structured, with employees commonly living on-site and sharing staff facilities. Local island culture is predominantly Muslim, so modest dress and respect for prayer times, Ramadan and alcohol restrictions outside resorts are important. Lifestyle is peaceful and tropical, with access to beaches, diving, snorkelling and water sports, although space and shopping options can be limited. Foreign employees normally require an employer-arranged Employment Approval and work visa; the resort typically coordinates immigration, medical checks and travel documentation. Confirm the contract carefully for salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, flights, leave, insurance and visa responsibilities. Malé is the main administrative and transport hub, while resort transfers usually involve speedboat or seaplane travel.
