Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied career opportunities in hospitality, tourism, technology, retail, education, and creative industries. Java, where Surabaya is located, offers a large employment market, efficient transport, major universities, and a lively urban lifestyle. Surabaya is generally more affordable than Jakarta or Bali, with plentiful shopping, restaurants, cafés, and cultural attractions. Bali is popular for international tourism and creative work, while Lombok, the Gili Islands, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and eastern Indonesia offer opportunities in resorts, marine tourism, conservation, and adventure travel. Indonesian culture values politeness, community, religious diversity, and respect for local customs. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and KITAS; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, benefits, accommodation, taxes, relocation support, and contract terms before accepting an offer. Learning basic Indonesian is useful for daily life and workplace relationships.
