Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, retail, events, construction and business services, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress, punctuality and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Lifestyle options range from beaches and desert activities to shopping, dining and extensive public transport, although summer temperatures are extremely high. Employees normally require employer-sponsored residence and work visas, with medical checks and Emirates ID registration handled through the sponsoring company. Relocating workers should confirm accommodation, transport, meals, insurance, probation, leave and airfare terms in writing. Dubai is modern and convenient but can be expensive, so budgeting for personal expenses is essential. The UAE has no personal income tax on most employment income, but living costs and employment regulations should still be reviewed before accepting an offer.
