Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, clean and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and abundant parks, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Hospitality employees should expect structured workplaces, shift schedules and a competitive service industry. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary, occupation and prevailing government rules. The employer normally submits the application. Before relocating, candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, contract terms, taxes and required documents. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
