Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, modern island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Hotels regularly recruit for housekeeping, food and beverage, front office, engineering and supervisory roles, although competition can be high. The culture is multicultural, orderly and service-focused, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Residents enjoy excellent public transport, safe neighborhoods, shopping, diverse food and easy access to parks and beaches, but housing and daily expenses can be costly. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass before starting employment; eligibility depends on nationality, salary and role, with permits and passes subject to government approval. Employers often explain required documentation and medical checks. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, deposits and insurance, and verify employment terms before relocating.
