Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology, healthcare, and logistics. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Marina Bay, Orchard, Sentosa, and the airport, and international experience is valued. The culture is multicultural, orderly, and generally welcoming, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse hawker food, shopping, beaches, parks, and a busy events calendar. Rent can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many workers share accommodation or live farther from the city. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary, and occupation. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, medical coverage, banking, and local tax registration before starting work.
