Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is a modern federation of seven emirates rather than an island destination. Dubai offers extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, events, and business services, while Abu Dhabi and other emirates also have strong hospitality markets. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international workforce; respectful dress, polite communication, and sensitivity during Ramadan are important. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, desert activities, dining, and entertainment, although summer heat is intense. Most foreign employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. The employer generally arranges the work permit, medical testing, Emirates ID, and residency process, subject to UAE regulations. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, leave, gratuities, and contract terms before accepting an offer. Dubai’s living costs can be high, especially for housing, but hotel roles may include accommodation and meals. Public transport is convenient in major areas, and English is widely used at work.
