Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, events, and business services. The culture is multicultural and welcoming, while local customs emphasize modest dress, respect for religion, and considerate public behavior. Dubai’s lifestyle is modern and fast-paced, with excellent malls, beaches, dining, entertainment, and public transport, although housing and summer temperatures can be challenging. Hospitality employees often receive employer-sponsored work visas, medical insurance, accommodation or a housing allowance, meals, and transportation, depending on the contract. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, working hours, accommodation, annual leave, airfare, probation terms, and visa sponsorship in writing. The employer normally arranges the residence visa and work permit after the required medical examination and documentation. English is widely used in workplaces, and Arabic or other languages can be useful.
