Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but Dubai is a major coastal city and an international hospitality hub. Job opportunities are especially strong in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, events, retail and wellness. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress, punctuality and sensitivity to local customs are important. Dubai offers modern housing, extensive shopping, beaches, public transport and an active social lifestyle, although summers are extremely hot and living costs can be high. Most foreign employees need an employer-sponsored residence and work visa, with the company usually arranging medical checks, Emirates ID processing and legal employment documentation. Hospitality packages may include accommodation, meals, transportation, insurance and annual leave. Before relocating, confirm the salary, service charge, working hours, accommodation, probation terms and visa sponsorship in writing.
