Destination Guide

Qatar is a small peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main urban center. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, food and beverage, construction, healthcare, education, and technology provide many employment opportunities. The culture is welcoming but conservative: modest clothing is advisable, public behavior should remain respectful, and Islamic customs should be observed, especially during Ramadan. Doha offers modern malls, beaches, museums, desert excursions, international restaurants, and excellent infrastructure. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are pleasant and popular for outdoor activities. Most foreign workers require an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit; the employer commonly arranges medical checks, documentation, and a Qatar ID. Before relocating, confirm accommodation, transport, healthcare, annual leave, airfare, and end-of-service benefits in writing. Living costs can be high, particularly for housing, but employer-provided accommodation can significantly reduce expenses.
