Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality job markets. Opportunities are common in hotels, restaurants, bars, resorts, events, tourism, aviation, and luxury retail. The culture is multicultural and welcoming, while Islamic customs should be respected, including modest public dress and sensitivity during Ramadan. Dubai offers a modern, fast-paced lifestyle with beaches, shopping, nightlife, desert activities, and extensive public transport, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Most expatriate employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas; working legally without the correct permit is prohibited. Employers commonly arrange visa processing, medical testing, Emirates ID registration, and sometimes accommodation or transport. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, housing, meals, insurance, working hours, leave, airfare, and contract terms. A valid passport, authenticated documents, and a medical fitness test may be required.
