Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality job markets. Opportunities are common in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, technology and healthcare. The culture is multicultural and generally respectful, while Islamic customs influence public behavior, dress, food and religious holidays. Dubai offers a fast-paced lifestyle, modern transport, beaches, shopping and extensive international dining, but accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Employers normally sponsor a work visa, residence permit, medical examination and Emirates ID for overseas hires; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Confirm salary, accommodation, meals, transport, insurance, probation, leave and airfare in writing before relocating. Bring authenticated documents where requested, budget for initial expenses, and follow UAE labor, alcohol, photography and public-conduct regulations.
