Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is a modern Gulf country rather than an island, with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, logistics, technology, healthcare and finance. Its culture combines Islamic traditions, local Emirati heritage and a highly international population; respectful dress and behavior are important, particularly during Ramadan. Lifestyle varies from Dubai’s busy urban scene to Ajman’s quieter, more affordable coastal environment. Employers usually sponsor work visas, arrange medical testing and obtain residence permits after an offer is accepted; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, leave and end-of-service benefits before relocating. Costs are generally lower in Ajman than Dubai, although housing, transport and schooling should be budgeted carefully. English is widely used, while Arabic is the official language.
