Japan Sheraton Kagoshima ¥3,500,000–¥5,000,000 per year*
Job Description

The Housekeeping Assistant Manager supports the Housekeeping Manager in supervising room attendants, public-area cleaners, linen operations, and daily hotel cleanliness. Typical requirements include relevant hotel housekeeping experience, supervisory or team-lead experience, strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays. Japanese communication skills are generally important, while English or other language ability is advantageous in an international hotel. The successful candidate is expected to maintain Sheraton and Marriott cleanliness standards, coach team members, coordinate with Front Office and Engineering, respond professionally to guest requests, monitor supplies and productivity, and help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for guests and colleagues.

Company Info

Sheraton Kagoshima is an international full-service hotel in Kagoshima, southern Japan, operating under the Sheraton brand of Marriott International. The hotel serves leisure travelers, business guests, groups, and international visitors, offering accommodation, dining, meetings, and guest services. Sheraton properties are known for community-focused hospitality, comfortable shared spaces, and professional service standards. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment supported by Marriott’s global systems, training resources, and career opportunities. In this role, the hotel’s Housekeeping team is responsible for guest rooms, public areas, linen coordination, cleanliness inspections, and close cooperation with other departments. Working at Sheraton Kagoshima can provide valuable experience in Japanese hospitality while building skills transferable across Marriott hotels in Japan and overseas.

Destination Guide

Japan offers hotel, restaurant, tourism, retail, technology, healthcare, and teaching opportunities, with strong demand for hospitality workers in major cities and resort destinations. Kagoshima, on Kyushu Island, offers a slower pace, lower living costs than Tokyo, warm local culture, excellent seafood, hot springs, and access to Sakurajima and other natural attractions. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, teamwork, courtesy, and attention to detail. Housing, transport, and daily services are generally convenient, though Japanese language ability makes relocation much easier. Foreign applicants normally need an appropriate work visa arranged with employer support; hospitality roles may require qualifications and eligibility under Japan’s work-visa rules. Applicants should confirm sponsorship, salary, accommodation, insurance, working hours, and relocation assistance before accepting an offer. Japan has four seasons, efficient public transport, and a generally safe lifestyle, but deposits, key money, and initial housing costs should be budgeted.
