Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai offering the widest range of hotel, tourism, retail, aviation and service-sector jobs. Abu Dhabi combines modern city life with beaches, cultural attractions, desert landscapes and a relatively relaxed pace. The culture is multicultural, while Islamic customs, modest dress in public areas and respectful behavior during Ramadan should be observed. The lifestyle is convenient and generally safe, though summer temperatures are extremely high and living costs can be substantial. Employers normally sponsor work visas, residence permits and medical checks for overseas hires; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, airfare, gratuities and contract terms before relocating. English is widely used in hotels, while Arabic is the official language.
