Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, technology, healthcare, and education. Major employment centers include Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Okinawa. Workplace culture generally values punctuality, respect, teamwork, presentation, and careful attention to detail. Tokyo provides excellent transport, international communities, and extensive entertainment, but housing and daily expenses can be high. Regional cities may offer a slower lifestyle and lower rent. Foreign workers usually need an employer-sponsored work visa matching their occupation; a Certificate of Eligibility is commonly required before applying. Employers may assist with the process, but applicants should confirm requirements with Japan’s immigration authorities and their embassy. Relocation planning should include accommodation, residence registration, health insurance, pension enrollment, taxes, banking, and language support. Japanese ability is especially important for weddings, guest relations, and customer-facing hospitality positions. Japan has four seasons, efficient public transport, and a rich mix of traditional culture and modern city life.
