Destination Guide

Thailand offers varied hospitality opportunities on islands and coastal destinations such as Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Chang and Krabi, with jobs in resorts, restaurants, spas, diving and guest services. Pattaya, although not an island, is another major tourism and employment centre. Thai culture values politeness, respect, hospitality and modest workplace behaviour. Island life is generally relaxed, warm and outdoors-oriented, but transport, healthcare and housing can be more limited and expensive in tourist areas. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit before starting employment; requirements depend on nationality, role and employer. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, salary terms and relocation support in writing. Learning basic Thai is highly useful, while English is commonly required in international resorts. Peak seasons can bring long hours, and employment conditions vary considerably between properties.
