Destination Guide

Qatar is a modern Gulf country and peninsula rather than an island, offering employment in hospitality, construction, aviation, retail, healthcare, logistics, and energy. Doha has a multicultural population, strong infrastructure, shopping malls, beaches, museums, desert excursions, and an active restaurant scene. Local culture values modest dress, respect for Islamic traditions, family life, and courteous behavior; alcohol is restricted to licensed venues. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities. Expatriate employees generally need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit, with medical checks and document attestation commonly required. Employers may provide accommodation or a housing allowance, transport, healthcare, and annual flights, but terms should be confirmed before accepting an offer. New arrivals should budget for deposits, mobile service, and daily expenses, and verify all recruitment arrangements through official company channels.
