Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology, finance, education, and shared services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, and Johor. The country has a multicultural society shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions. English is widely used in business and hospitality, while Malay is the national language. Life is generally affordable, with excellent food, modern shopping areas, tropical weather, and easy access to beaches and islands. Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and the Perhentian Islands are popular leisure destinations. Foreign interns and employees normally need an appropriate pass arranged or sponsored by the employer; tourist entry does not authorize work. Requirements vary by nationality and program, so applicants should confirm details with Marriott and Malaysian immigration before traveling. Housing, transport, insurance, and living costs should be planned in advance.
