Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island, with Peninsular Malaysia and the islands of Langkawi, Penang, Sabah, and Sarawak offering different lifestyles. Job opportunities are strongest in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, technology, education, healthcare, manufacturing, and shared services. Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions shape everyday culture, with English widely used in hotels and business. Living costs are generally moderate, although Kuala Lumpur and resort areas are more expensive. Putrajaya offers a clean, planned, family-friendly lifestyle close to Kuala Lumpur, with extensive parks, mosques, shopping, and dining. Foreign employees usually need an employment pass arranged and sponsored by the employer before starting work. Qualifications, passport validity, medical checks, and immigration approval may be required. New arrivals should budget for deposits, transport, insurance, and temporary accommodation, and verify all visa conditions with Marriott and Malaysian authorities.
