Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, with demand in hotels, restaurants, resorts, events and tourism. The culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in hotels. Lifestyle costs vary: Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur are convenient and modern, while island destinations offer a more relaxed beach-oriented environment but may have fewer services. Employees should expect tropical weather, public-holiday peak periods and shift work. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work permit or employment pass; requirements depend on nationality, salary and position, so approval should be confirmed with the employer and Malaysian authorities. Relocation planning should include accommodation, transport, medical insurance, banking and local registration. Malaysia is generally welcoming, though adapting to humidity, traffic and local customs is important.
