Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of hotel, restaurant, tourism, retail, and service jobs. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values, and a highly international expatriate community. Dubai offers modern apartments, extensive shopping, beaches, public transport, nightlife, and year-round warm weather, although summers are extremely hot. Employers normally sponsor work visas for successful overseas candidates, arrange medical testing and Emirates ID processing, and may provide accommodation or an allowance, transport, meals, insurance, and annual flights. Employees should not work on a tourist visa and should carefully review salary, housing, working hours, gratuity, probation, and leave terms before arrival. Relocation costs, document attestation, and initial living expenses should be planned in advance. Respectful dress and behavior are expected, particularly during Ramadan and in public places.
