Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hospitality, tourism, airline, retail, technology, education, and business-process jobs, with the strongest opportunities in Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and major resort destinations. Filipino culture is friendly, family-oriented, and community-minded; English is widely used, especially in hotels and offices. Lifestyle varies from fast-paced urban living in Manila to a more relaxed beach-centered pace on islands such as Cebu, Bohol, Siargao, and Palawan. Costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although central Manila housing can be expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate visa, while tourists cannot legally work. Relocating typically involves securing a written offer, confirming sponsorship, arranging accommodation, obtaining health insurance, and preparing for tropical weather, traffic, and occasional typhoons. Local salaries should be compared carefully with housing and transport costs.
