Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, and business jobs. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international workforce; respectful dress, punctuality, and sensitivity to Islamic customs are important. Lifestyle options range from beaches, desert activities, and shopping to restaurants, nightlife, and major cultural attractions. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit. Employers commonly arrange medical testing, Emirates ID processing, and sometimes accommodation, transport, meals, or flights, depending on the contract. Dubai is convenient and active but can be expensive, especially for private housing. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, working hours, accommodation, probation, leave, insurance, and repatriation terms before accepting an offer. Recruitment fees should not normally be paid by the applicant.
