Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, multicultural island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, finance, technology, and aviation. English is widely used, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. Life is safe, efficient, and highly urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, dining, parks, and international communities. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so check whether the employer provides accommodation or an allowance. International employees need an approved work pass before starting employment; the employer normally applies for an Employment Pass or S Pass, depending on salary, qualifications, and eligibility. Do not work on a tourist entry permit. Prepare certified qualifications, passport documents, medical or background checks if requested, and proof of funds for initial expenses. Singapore is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. Respect local laws, workplace punctuality, cultural diversity, and strict cleanliness standards.
