Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, logistics, retail, technology, healthcare, and customer service, with Colombo providing the widest range of formal employment. The country has a warm, tropical lifestyle, beautiful beaches, tea country, wildlife, historic cities, and a generally family-oriented culture. Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages, while English is widely used in tourism and business. Living costs are usually lower than in many international destinations, although Colombo is more expensive than rural areas. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or work authorization arranged with the employer; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Before relocating, confirm the written contract, salary, accommodation, meals, medical coverage, visa sponsorship, and work-permit responsibilities. Sri Lanka’s monsoon seasons vary by region, so transport and housing should be planned accordingly.
