Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, IT, education, healthcare, finance, and international business, particularly in Colombo, Galle, Kandy, and resort areas. Its culture blends Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with strong traditions of family, religion, festivals, cricket, and generous hospitality. Life can be affordable compared with many international destinations, although Colombo is more expensive than rural areas. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife parks, historic cities, and excellent local food. Foreign workers generally need an appropriate employment or residence visa arranged with employer support before starting work; requirements and approvals vary by nationality and position. Relocating employees should confirm accommodation, transport, medical cover, taxes, work authorization, and service-charge policies in writing. English is widely used in tourism, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages.
