Destination Guide

Thailand offers hospitality opportunities across Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Phangan, Koh Chang and nearby mainland resorts such as Khao Lak. Common jobs include hotel operations, restaurants, diving, watersports, wellness, guest services, sales and tourism management. Thai culture values politeness, respect, community and a relaxed but service-minded approach; learning basic Thai is helpful. Island life brings beaches, warm weather, outdoor activities and lower living costs than many major cities, although transport, healthcare and housing can be more limited. Khao Lak is quieter than Phuket and is on the mainland, with access to Similan and Surin Islands. Foreign workers generally need a Thai Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit arranged with an employer before starting work. Requirements vary by nationality and position, so confirm current rules with the Thai embassy and employer. Accommodation, meals and service charge may form part of resort packages.
