Destination Guide

Spain’s main island destinations include Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Tourism creates opportunities in hotels, restaurants, resorts, guest services, entertainment, transport, retail and seasonal activity businesses. Mallorca and the Canary Islands offer relatively broad year-round employment, while Ibiza is especially busy during the summer and has a strong nightlife and events culture. Island life is generally relaxed and outdoor-oriented, with beaches, water sports, local festivals and close communities, although housing can be expensive and seasonal work may involve shared accommodation. EU, EEA and Swiss nationals can work in Spain after completing registration requirements. Non-EU applicants normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and suitable visa before starting employment. Relocating typically requires an employment contract, accommodation planning, health coverage, a Spanish tax number and social-security registration. Barcelona is not an island, but the same national work and relocation rules apply.
