Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering the broadest range of international hospitality, tourism, finance and service-sector jobs. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large expatriate community; modest dress, respect for Islamic customs and professional courtesy are important. Dubai provides a modern lifestyle with beaches, shopping, restaurants, desert activities and extensive public transport, although housing and schooling can be costly. Most overseas employees need employer sponsorship for a residence and work visa. Employers commonly arrange the work permit, medical examination, Emirates ID and residency process, while the employee supplies authenticated documents and a valid passport. Review the contract carefully for accommodation, transport, insurance, flights and end-of-service benefits. The climate is hot and humid for much of the year, so newcomers should budget for air conditioning and plan outdoor activities during cooler months.
