Destination Guide

Although the United Arab Emirates is not an island, Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah and coastal resort areas provide a resort-style lifestyle with beaches, water activities, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The UAE offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, spas, restaurants, tourism, aviation, retail, and events, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture is multicultural, while Islamic traditions influence dress, public behavior, and working practices. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor facilities and air-conditioned transport are important; winters are more comfortable and popular with visitors. Employers normally sponsor a residence and work visa after hiring, arrange medical checks, and may provide accommodation or an allowance. Employees should confirm contract terms, insurance, transport, meals, flights, and gratuity before relocating. Dubai is relatively expensive, particularly for private housing, but staff accommodation can substantially reduce costs. English is widely used in hotels, while Arabic is the official language.
