Destination Guide

The Maldives offers resort-based employment in hospitality, including food and beverage, housekeeping, front office, spa, marine activities, engineering, finance, and guest relations. Resort islands provide a structured lifestyle with staff accommodation, meals, uniforms, and transport usually arranged by the employer. Life is tropical and scenic, but work can be demanding, with long shifts and limited access to mainland shopping or entertainment. Maldivian culture is influenced by Islam, so modest dress and respect for local customs are important, particularly on inhabited islands. Alcohol is generally restricted to licensed resort areas. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work visa, with medical checks and documentation arranged through the employer. Before relocating, candidates should confirm salary, service charge, contract length, leave, flights, insurance, accommodation, and visa responsibilities. Malé is the main arrival and administrative hub, while transfers to remote resorts are made by seaplane or domestic flight and speedboat.
