Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, technology, education, manufacturing, and healthcare. Fukuoka is especially attractive for hospitality workers because it is a welcoming, international city with lower living costs than Tokyo and excellent transport links across Kyushu. Japanese workplace culture values punctuality, teamwork, respect, cleanliness, and careful attention to service. Daily life is convenient, with reliable public transport, excellent food, safe neighborhoods, and four distinct seasons. English may be useful in international hotels, but Japanese ability significantly improves career prospects and everyday integration. Foreign employees generally need an appropriate work visa sponsored by an employer; common routes include the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa or the Specified Skilled Worker visa, depending on the role and qualifications. Applicants should arrange housing, residence registration, health insurance, and a bank account after arrival. Costs vary, with rent and deposits requiring advance planning.
