Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, and events jobs. The country is culturally diverse, modern, and generally welcoming to international professionals, while local customs and Islamic traditions should be respected. Dubai offers a fast-paced lifestyle, beaches, nightlife, shopping, desert excursions, and extensive dining options. Employers normally sponsor a work visa, residence permit, medical screening, and Emirates ID for successful overseas hires; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Packages may include accommodation or a housing allowance, transport, meals, health insurance, and annual flights, although this varies by employer. Before relocating, confirm the basic salary, service charge, accommodation, working hours, leave entitlement, probation terms, and visa arrangements. Costs are highest in central Dubai, particularly for rent and transport.
