Destination Guide

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and a major tourism and hospitality hub, offering jobs in hotels, restaurants, spas, tour companies, diving, retail, transportation, and events. Popular areas include Patong, Kata, Karon, Phuket Town, and quieter beaches around the island. Life combines tropical beaches, outdoor activities, international dining, lively nightlife, and a strong local culture influenced by Thai, Chinese, and Andaman traditions. Living costs vary, with Phuket generally more expensive than mainland provincial towns; shared accommodation can help reduce expenses. Foreign nationals must obtain a suitable Thai work visa and work permit before legally starting employment, normally with support from the employer. Applicants should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, insurance, working hours, and visa arrangements in writing. Respect for Thai customs, polite communication, appropriate temple dress, and basic Thai phrases are valuable when relocating. Public transport is limited in some areas, so scooters or employer transport are commonly used.
