Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not a single island, but Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is a prominent man-made island and a major hospitality destination. Job opportunities are strongest in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, construction, technology and business services. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress, punctuality and sensitivity toward local customs are important. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, desert excursions, water sports and vibrant dining and nightlife, although summer temperatures are extremely high. Most overseas employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas; the employer commonly arranges medical checks, Emirates ID and work authorization. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, flights, gratuities and contract terms before relocating. Living costs, particularly rent, can be high in Dubai, so staff housing or allowances are valuable.
