Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak, including hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, and tourism businesses. Miri is in Sarawak on Borneo, a relaxed coastal city known for beaches, national parks, diving access, local seafood, and a multicultural community. Living costs are generally lower than in Kuala Lumpur, although salaries can also be more modest. Malay, English, and local languages are commonly used, and Malaysian food culture is diverse and affordable. Candidates should secure a written offer before relocating. Foreign employees generally need an employment pass or other work authorization arranged and sponsored by the employer; working on a tourist entry is not permitted. Employers may assist with immigration, medical checks, flights, accommodation, or permits, but benefits vary. Bring certified qualifications, references, passport copies, and relevant food-safety credentials. Check Sarawak-specific entry and employment requirements before travel.
