Major employment centers include Metro Manila, Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Laguna. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented, community-minded, and influenced by Spanish, American, and Asian traditions. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with affordable local food and transport but rising housing costs in major cities. Foreign workers usually need an appropriate employment visa or work permit sponsored by an employer; tourists cannot legally work. Relocating candidates should arrange a written job offer, verify benefits, prepare original documents, and budget for rent, deposits, transport, healthcare, and utilities. The country has a tropical climate, and newcomers should consider traffic, typhoons, and regional differences before choosing where to live.
