Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in software engineering, cloud, cybersecurity, data, fintech, consulting, pharmaceuticals, and multinational technology companies, especially in Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Limerick. The culture is generally friendly, social, and informal, with English widely used in professional life. Lifestyle benefits include scenic coastlines, compact cities, music, sport, pubs, and easy access to European travel. Dublin has the largest job market but also the highest housing costs and a competitive rental market; Cork and Galway may offer a slower pace and somewhat lower costs. Non-EEA professionals usually need an employment permit, with the Critical Skills Employment Permit often relevant to experienced technology specialists. Applicants should confirm eligibility, salary thresholds, and employer sponsorship before moving. EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens can generally live and work without a permit. Relocating employees should budget for accommodation deposits, private health cover where appropriate, transport, and registration requirements after arrival.
