Destination Guide

Thailand’s islands offer a relaxed lifestyle alongside growing opportunities in tourism, hospitality, marine services, retail, property, digital work and logistics. Phuket has the broadest professional market and international transport links, while Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Krabi attract hospitality, wellness and remote-work businesses. Smaller islands provide a quieter lifestyle but fewer formal jobs and higher dependence on seasonal tourism. Thai culture values politeness, respect for seniority, community and flexible social relationships; learning basic Thai is highly helpful. Living costs vary widely, with beachfront areas generally expensive and inland neighborhoods more affordable. Foreign employees normally need a job offer, a Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit, with the employer assisting through the process. Remote workers should check current digital-nomad or long-stay visa rules rather than working informally. Before relocating, arrange health insurance, accommodation, tax advice and reliable transport, especially during monsoon periods.
