Intern, OFR JHB

Malaysia DHL RM800–RM1,500 per month*
Job Description

This internship supports DHL’s Ocean Freight (OFR) activities, including shipment coordination, documentation, tracking, data entry, customer updates and general operational support. Candidates should be pursuing or recently completed studies in logistics, supply chain, business or a related discipline. Good communication skills, attention to detail, basic Microsoft Office knowledge and an interest in international freight are expected. The role requires reliability, willingness to learn, teamwork and the ability to manage routine tasks accurately in a deadline-driven environment. Familiarity with freight systems or customs documentation is helpful but may not be essential for an intern.

Company Info

DHL is a global logistics and express delivery company operating in more than 220 countries and territories. Its businesses cover international parcel delivery, air and ocean freight, road transport, warehousing, supply-chain management and e-commerce logistics. DHL Global Forwarding, the division most closely associated with this role, arranges international freight movements and manages the documentation, customs coordination and transport planning involved in global trade. The company serves customers ranging from small businesses to large multinational organisations across sectors such as manufacturing, retail, technology and healthcare. DHL is known for its international network, structured processes and emphasis on service quality, compliance, operational efficiency and sustainability. An internship can provide practical exposure to freight forwarding, customer service, shipment visibility and the commercial realities of supply-chain operations.

Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in logistics, shared services, technology, manufacturing, tourism and international business, particularly around Kuala Lumpur, Port Klang, Penang and Johor. Its major islands and coastal destinations, including Penang, Langkawi and parts of Sabah and Sarawak, provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, food culture and outdoor activities, while mainland cities offer broader employment options. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences reflected in festivals, languages and cuisine. Living costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular island areas can be more expensive. Foreign interns normally need an appropriate pass arranged or supported by the employer; requirements depend on nationality, programme and duration, so confirmation with DHL and Malaysian immigration is essential. Relocating is easiest with employer documentation, accommodation planning, health insurance and a clear budget. English is widely used in business, although learning basic Malay is useful.
