Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in logistics, supply-chain management, technology, engineering, finance, shared services, manufacturing and tourism. Major employment hubs include Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor and Sabah. The country combines modern cities with diverse Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures, excellent food and easy access to beaches and islands such as Langkawi, Tioman, Perhentian and Redang. Urban living provides good transport, international schools, shopping and healthcare, while costs are generally lower than in Singapore or many Western cities. Foreign professionals usually need an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer; eligibility depends on qualifications, salary and the role, with approval handled through Malaysian authorities. Relocating employees should arrange housing, insurance, banking and tax advice before arrival. English is widely used in business, although learning basic Malay helps with daily life. Weather is tropical, hot and humid year-round, with monsoon patterns varying by coast.
