Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong career opportunities in technology, logistics, shared services and digital business, particularly around Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor. Its multicultural society blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in professional settings. Urban life provides modern housing, healthcare, shopping and international schools, while living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or many Western cities. Malaysia’s islands and coastal destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Perhentian and Redang, offer beaches, diving and relaxed weekend travel. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; the company typically handles the application, and approval depends on salary, qualifications and role. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, tax registration, banking and medical coverage. Traffic and humidity can be challenging, but public transport is improving and Kuala Lumpur provides a convenient base for regional travel.
